Oncological physical therapy in a patient with vulvar cancer: an integrative approach.

Abstract: The clinical case is presented of a 48-year-old patient with stage IIIA vulvar cancer who was treated with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, followed by comprehensive oncology physiotherapy. The treatment combined lymphatic drainage, manual therapy, pelvic floor exercises, stress management, and sexual health education. After eight sessions, a significant reduction in pain and lymphedema was observed, together with improvements in quality of life and sexual function. The patient also showed greater independence in her daily activities. Abstract : Se presenta el caso clínico de una paciente de 48 años con cáncer de vulva en estadio IIIA tratada con cirugía, quimioterapia y radioterapia, que posteriormente recibió fisioterapia oncológica integral. El tratamiento combinó drenaje linfático, terapia manual, ejercicios de suelo pélvico, manejo del estrés y educación en salud sexual. Tras ocho sesiones se observó una importante reducción del dolor y del linfedema, además de una mejora de la calidad de vida y de la función sexual. También aumentó la autonomía de la paciente en sus actividades diarias. La fisioterapia oncológica, aplicada desde un enfoque interdisciplinar y biopsicosocial, es eficaz para mejorar los síntomas y la calidad de vida en pacientes con cáncer de vulva.
